Guests arrive through an Italian piazza, move through five themed entertainment spaces, and finally take their seats inside an oval domed theater inspired by the Paris Opera. The result, Cinema Paradiso, was named the Best Overall Home Theater in the world by CEDIA in 2013.Audio ImagesOur role on the project.A theater this ambitious isn't installed — it's conducted. Audio Images served as the technology integrator and project orchestrator, engineering the audio, video, motion, and control systems while coordinating the architects, acousticians, and builders into one quality-controlled process.Our role was to make a million dollars of precision engineering completely invisible — so that nobody in the room thinks about the equipment, and everybody feels the film.That discipline is what we call Solutioneering, and Cinema Paradiso is its definitive expression.Great home theater is supposed to disappear. A private mountaintop residence with a reference-grade home cinema and a family-scale gaming and media suite built for both the grown-ups and the kids. Audio Images served as the technology integrator and project orchestrator, engineering the audio, video, and control systems and coordinating architects, acousticians, and builders into a single, quality-controlled process. The main theater is a dedicated dolby-atmos-configured cinema with a wide masked screen, plush tiered seating, and an equipment rack meticulously wired and hidden away in a back-of-house room. Down the hall, a candy-colored gaming and media room houses a life-sized Ms. Pac-Man cabinet, a wall of classic arcade art, and a large flat-panel display for movies and console gaming. Together, the two spaces show how Audio Images designs entertainment for how a family actually lives — reference performance for film nights, and pure fun for everyone else. By appointment only. --- ## An Uncommon Room (Project) URL: https://www.audioimages.tv/an-uncommon-room A Project by Audio Images — An Uncommon Room. Tucked onto an upstairs landing between the master suite and the kids' rooms — with a panoramic view of the Pacific filling one entire wall — this space was labeled "common" on the plans. Audio Images was asked to make it anything but: a fully immersive 7.4.2 media room where every speaker, subwoofer, and diffuser is hidden, and nothing competes with the ocean view. The result took Best Media Room, Americas Level II at the 2019 CEDIA Awards. Audio Images served as the technology integrator and project orchestrator, engineering an immersive sound system and 4K display around an architecture full of glass and hard surfaces — the hardest acoustic environment a media room can start in. Working with acoustic consultant Anthony Grimani's PMI team, we designed a fully concealed 7.4.2 sound system with left, center, and right channels tucked into the front wall and angled for perfect dialog clarity. Side channels live in the ceiling, carefully isolated so the sound never travels upstairs. Two rear channels flank the seating. Subwoofers were custom-built for this specific room, hidden in the same wall assembly. For the picture, we skipped a projector entirely: a 98-inch 4K display handles the ambient light head-on. All of it — speakers, subs, absorbers, diffusers, wiring — went behind stretched fabric that covers the ceiling and both key walls. The client already had an award-winning basement media room and wanted the same experience outside: sports, films, music, and photos on the roof deck overlooking the bay. Audio Images removed the deck's original lap pool and built an 8.2-channel outdoor theater in its place, anchored by an 84-inch weatherproof display on a motorized lift that drops below the roof line when not in use — the display and lift were craned onto the roof while the client lived in the house. Sound is fully concealed: an angled LCR bar below the display, four marine-rated in-wall side channels in custom aluminum back-boxes that control both water intrusion and sound leakage toward neighboring homes, and dual subwoofers. Anthony Grimani of Performance Media Industries (PMI) measured and calibrated the open-air space until it behaved like a room. A second zone serves the bar and jacuzzi with its own display on a lift-and-swivel mount. Whole-house distribution brings live TV, streaming, independent music streams per family member, and personal photo libraries to the roof, with Furman and APC power protection behind it. Volume limiting keeps the system neighbor-friendly.
